Peter Mac is one of the world’s leading cancer research, education and treatment centers
globally and is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to caring for people affected by
cancer. It has over 2,500 staff, including more than 580 laboratory and clinical researchers, all
focused on providing better treatments, better care and potential cures for cancer.
Intersection 1 and 2 were developed in consultation with the hospital’s art curator and
the Spiritual Care Team to provide a focus for the wide variety of Reflection Space users.
The artworks evoke a sense of space through the interaction of regular
patterned elements with the curve of the wall and the overall form of the room. The protruding
elements have a coloured pattern of small squares that create a dynamic and a sense of
space on a plane in front of the wall.

The use of spatial imagination creates a reflective contemporary work that reveals depth through
contemplation and evokes a feeling for time.
