Floor Patterns, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia
The brief for this project asked that the interior of the building reflect the culture of Malaysia and that the traveler be aware of a distinctive traditional identity in the context of a contemporary building.

Fire rating, durability, and maintenance were important factors and design solutions used building materials already allowed for at the planning stage.

Each motif grows in complexity toward the center of the building, as a reference to departure/arrival and the designs each share the same geometry

The project involved travel and the research of traditional motifs and pattern in Malaysia. Each pattern is approximately 400 x 400cm and constructed from selected granite.
